VITAS Innovation Hospice Care Seems Volunteers

VITAS Innovative Hospice Care seeks volunteers to offer their time, talents, a caring heart and a listening ear to terminally patients and their loved ones.

Volunteer opportunities suit all abilities and interests. VITAS volunteers visit patients in their homes, nursing homes or assisted living communities, provide support to veterans at the end of life, cut and style patients' hair or offer a massage, play a patient's favorite tune, bring their well-behaved pet for a loving, furry visit, do some household repair, or help in the office, among other jobs. Bereavement volunteers make visits and phone calls to loved ones, sew Memory Bears and help with memorial services.

Volunteers will be trained in listening skills, family dynamics and the right words to say to terminally ill patients and their caregivers. Assignments are made according to the volunteer's location preference and work or family schedule.

Contact Sally Mackie, RN, manager of volunteer services at 856-914-2835 or email to
sarah.mackie@vitas.com to register for a free volunteer orientation class.

VITAS Innovative Hospice Care(r) is the nation's largest provider of end-of-life care.  A pioneer and leader in the hospice movement since 1978, VITAS has been caring for the terminally ill and their families in New Jersey since 2000.
